"It Is Finished."

For I determined to know nothing among you
except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:2

Life Question: Can You Imagine??

The Easter holiday is two days into the past, but our Savior
and Lord Jesus Christ is ever present! So why bring it up now?
Those of us who are followers and those who seek to be followers,
must understand to the best of our ability, why the crucifixion
of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ is important.
Matthew 27:46 "Eloi, Eloi!, lama sabachthani!"("My God, My God! Why
have you forsaken me?")Jesus cried to his Father as his Father "turned
away" from him in his suffering. It was in that defining moment,
Jesus felt true separation from his Father and felt the pain of his
Father's abandonment as he took on the weight of our sins.
Luke 23:34 "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they
are doing." For me personally, what Jesus says to his Father is the
ultimate understatement! They didn't have the slightest clue who
they were putting to death because they didn't recognize him as
the Messiah. Christ's prayer for them however demonstrated his
limitless compassion and his grace.
Luke 23:43 "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
Even as Jesus Christ our Savior hung dying on a cross, He was assuring
the criminal hanging next to him, that he would be with him in paradise.
Why?? Because even at the hour of his death, the criminal recognized
him for who he was and accepted him into his life and heart.
Luke 23:46"Father, into Your hands I commit my spirit." Jesus willingly gave
up his soul to the Father's hands, knowing his time of death was near.
He offered himself up as a sinless sacrifice to his Father(Hebrews 9:14)
John 19:26-27 "Dear Woman, here is your son!" and "Here is your mother!".
As death was overtaking Jesus, he committed the care of his mother
to Apostle John, whom he loved. And from that time on, John took her
into his own home.
John 19:28 "I am thirsty." They put gall in my food and gave me vinegar
for my thirst." Customary at crucifixion.
John 19:30 "It Is Finished." These were the last words Jesus spoke. It meant
that his suffering was over, the work his Father gave him to do(preach the
gospel, work miracles and obtain salvation for us all was accomplished.
Our sin debt was paid.
