If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides,
so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.

Life Question: How important is it to be spiritually connected to each
Though I am not Jewish, the church I belong to celebrated Passover during
Maundy Thursday as a part of the season of Lent. The group of us that
came gathered around the long table in our Friendship Room greeted by
a sight of bread, crackers, assorted other foods and wine(of the non-alcoholic
variety of course).
As Jesus did in His day and washed the feet of his disciples, we went around
the table and washed each others hands.
The evening continued with a series of prayers in preparation of the meal and
after prayers, and our pastor said a prayer over the meal, the meal commenced.
We broke bread and passed it on to each other and partook of the other elements
of the supper.
During this point in the dinner, our pastor told us that the Passover meal back in
Jesus' day would last six hours as the wine and food flowed and fellowship went
on into the wee hours. He went on to tell us about Exodus 6:6-7--The Four Cups
Say therefore to the Israelites, "I am the Lord, and I will free you from the burdens
of the Egyptians and deliver you from slavery to them. I will redeem you with an
outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my people,
and I will be your God. You shall know that I am the Lord your God, who has
freed you from the burdens of the Egyptians.
1. Cup of Freedom
2. Cup of Redemption
3. Cup of Salvation
4. Cup of Sanctification
Afterword, we shared our faith stories and stories of our travels we took in keeping
with the many journeys of Jesus and his followers. As we sat eating, laughing and
sharing, I thought about Jesus and his follower and what a sense of belonging that they must've felt in that moment, even though they didn't always understand the parables
Jesus spoke in.
During the meal and fellowship I know I felt the presence of God there that night, even
if no one else felt it, there was in me, a great sense of peace. Made me wonder.....did the
disciples feel that same peace too?
