Freedom and Responsibility

Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from this body

of this death? Romans 7:24

Life Question: Are We Responsible With Our Freedom?

July 4th has long past us, but I have spent a good deal of time researching,

studying and pondering the question posed above, "Are We Responsible

With Our Freedom

A great deal of you out there will most likely answer "DUH! OF COURSE WE ARE!!!"

While others sitting in prison, who are genuinely sorry for their crimes will not agree.

This blog is not in any way meant to point fingers, judge or condemn, but rather, bring to light, what our responsibilities are with regard TO OUR freedom.

I am reminded of a quote said by Mother Theresa "If we have no peace it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other." Jesus' teachings

confirm this: "I am the vine you are the branches apart from me, you can do nothing (John 15:5) .

So what does this have to do with Freedom and Responsibility? PLENTY!

There are prisons full of people who have chosen to go astray and break

God's laws:

You shall not murder

You shall not steal

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor(lie)

Similarly, these are also the same laws that are on the books for us today. Many

people fill our prisons because of these crimes, some earned their right to be

there by what they did, others however, are there because of the actions done

by someone else and blamed for their wrongdoing.

The books of Romans, Ephesians and Galatians all have passages that give

instruction on why we are NOT to use our freedom to indulge in the sinful

nature as well as the results of what will happen when we do.....we separate

ourselves from our Father in heaven.

Is this the fate we what for ourselves and for our world. We are here because GOD breathed life into us, and gave us charge of HIS CREATION! We have a responsibility

to our Father to leave the world the same way it was at the time of his creating of it

and to live peacefully and respectfully with each other. We will not always agree, we don't have to, but we can agree to disagree.

God gave us freedom so that we can make this a world that reflects his love, compassion, his beauty in creation, concern for our well-being. It is our

responsibility to reflect those things God gave us, back to each other and by

doing so, God will be reflected in us.

Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.

Blessings,
