Whoever does not love does not know God, because God
is love. 2 Timothy 4:8
Life Question: How Can We Show Love?
St. Valentine, for who this day is named after, was
beaten and beheaded for
refusing to recant his faith and our Savior and Lord, who loves us so much, died for
us on the cross.
The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble(Nahum 1:7).
Christ gave us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother
(1 John 4:7).
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above
yourselves(Romans 12:10).
The way God intended for us to show love. How we show love on this day? Cards,
flowers, chocolate etc. Not that there's anything wrong in that. I treated
ice cream sprinkled with a crushed up dog biscuit.
Let's ponder the question posed above.....how can we show love?
For the one who does not know God, sit dow with them and share
the Word of God with them, to the one who needs comfort, comfort them,
for the one who needs for someone to just listen, be a sounding board, for the
one who has a troubled relationship with God, encourage them to talk it out,
for those who have lost loved ones, be a light in their time of darkness. I could
go on and on but I think you get the general idea.
There are times in our lives when showing love isn't so easy, especially when
it's for someone who hates us or for those who think we don't measure up to their
standards. I am familiar with both examples because I've been on the receiving
end. Believe me when I say, love in that instance, was not easy for me to show.
Then I realized that those situations had nothing to do with me, but had more
to do with the people themselves and their attitudes of perception.
Have you encountered similiar situation? How did you handle it?
Love is not always easy, with love comes hard times and conflict, it is during these
times that we learn what true love really means.
Happy Valentines Day!
Blessings,
