Lip Service

"What good is it dear brothers and sisters, if you say I have faith but don't show it by your actions? Can anyone be saved by that kind of faith?" James 2:14

Lip Service-hypocracy; an expression of agreement that is not supported by real conviction.

"What good is it dear brothers and sisiters, if you say I have faith but don't show it by your actions?  It, in fact, does nothing or no one for that matter any good. God gave each and every one of us a spirit of power, of love and of self discipline. With that power He gives each and every one of us orders: As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. So why then do some of us choose to approach

His orders with Lip Service?

Is it because some of us are afraid?  Are fearful that we will fail in our attempt to accomplish what those around us ask of us to do or that we aren't "good enough to do the job"?  Is it because we are ashamed?  What is it that stops you from going beyond Lip Service?

I admit, I am guilty of Lip Service at times. And yes, for the reasons that were listed. Now it may temporarily stop me from accomplishing what needs to be done, but it doesn't impede my efforts completely.  I am a fighter, I will plow ahead unimpeded in whatever needs to be done. Like anything though, you need to pace yourself and take breaks when necessary.

Jesus and His disciples are a great example of what happens when we approach life with a burning and passion whose heat is so intensely felt by those who meet us, that they say to themselves, "I don't know what's burning inside them, but all I know is I want to be a part of it!" Now, don't get me wrong, they didn't have it that easy. Some of the people they came in contact with didn't want anything to do with them, they avoided them like the plague, in fact. Others didn't know what to think. Some took their words to heart and joined their message spreading, others.....not so much. Encountering all the obstacles they did with working with Jesus to spread His ministry, it would've been very easy for all of them to come to a head and say, "Oh, the heck with it!" and stop helping to spread His message and let Him do it alone. Yet still follow in the meantime. But they didn't do that. They pressed on, they persevered!

That is the very same thing God and His Son expect for all of us to do! We are to not just flap our gums and say, "we love you Father," we are to go out into the world as His flame carriers and set ablaze with His spirit, all those that we meet!! We are to be inspiration to those who need to be inspired, we are to be the catalystists for those movements and activities that bring positive change to God's world, we are to be the examples of change that God seeks to make in His world. So let's not have the service we do for  our Savior stop at our lips!

Blessings,
