Peace In God's World Discussion Group

Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not

For the last few weeks, I've been involved with the Peace In God's World discussion group. The topics that were touched on were

The Church, A Community for Peace, In God's World, A Faith...and Political Responibility.

The main theme of the group was that of being a peacemaker for God and how this could be accomplished through the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have a Divine Calling to be peacemakers for God and His Son Jesus. How do we accomplish such a task? It begins in the church where we receive our guidance through His scripture, the scripture is an important part in instructing us how to conduct ourselves in order to be peacemakers.

Next, to be a faithful and serving presence for those in our communities by getting involved in community activities that help those who need food to eat, who are in need of a warm bed to sleep on, who need the company of people because they've been abandoned. There are so many ways we can help!

We can also be a catalyst with our legislators by writng them with encouragement to create mediation and negotiation programs that aid in bringing peace to warring nations, that encourage warring nations to sit down and encourage them to find common ground and to use the common ground to find solutions to help each other.

We can also come together as Christians with our sisters and brothers abroad to share faith experiences in Jesus Christ in order to become unified as His children. To understand their Christian traditions and celebrations, how they came to know God and His Son Jesus, how their relationship with God has influenced their lives and how their relationship with God and His Son Jesus have influenced their thoughts about the world around them.

So as God has said,"Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it." Psalm 34:14    Blessings, Liz Ciccone
