Life Question: What Light Do We Carry With Us?
Happy Saturday Everyone! All this week I've been reading
Luke 11:33-36, The Lamp of the Body bible passage. So what
is the lamp of our bodies?? IT'S OUR EYES! Think about it, can
you tell someone's a believer of God just by looking in their
eyes?
What would that look like to a believer or even a nonbeliever?
Those who follow Jesus, you can just tell because they are not
afraid to share their faith with others, they're not afraid to tell
others about how God helped them in a particular situation
and they're not afraid to tell them of times when their faith in
God was tested and how they endured their trial and came
through it with an even stronger belief and relationship with
Jesus. A nonbeliever might not know what you were referring to,
they might not understand how Jesus is the beacon in our lives
and how his truth is what illuminates our each and every one of
our life paths he predestined for us and how us living with him in
eternity is all he wants for us.
Sadly, this testimony is discouraged for the following reasons:
*It will offend someone
*It's not 'politically correct'
*Reliance on the world for security and fulfilling our needs
is more
We know better than that! I saw it firsthand when I was
a soprano in The Travelin' Shoes Gospel Choir a few years
back. We performed all over Minnesota and Wisconsin spreading
the message of Jesus. And were well received by most everyone!
Yes, even at our concerts some were naysayers. The thing is.....WE
KEPT TESTIFYING! As Luke 11:33-36 teaches us, "No one, when he has
lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a
lampstand, so that those who come in may see the light," and as
the song goes, "This Little Light of Mine, I'm Gonna Let it Shine!"
So do not hide your lamps under a basket, KEEP IT ON YOUR
LAMPSTAND!
Blessings,
Liz Ciccone
