Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of
wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free and that you break every yoke. Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that your bring to hour house
the poor who are cast out" Isaiah 58: 6-7
Life Question: Will you pray with our Muslim brothers and sisters?
With this summer going by so fast, I clean forgot to wish our Muslim
brothers and sisters much love and blessings during this most holy
time in their lives.....the season of Ramadan
So why should we as Christians want to know or learn about Ramadan?
Much like in the lives of we Christians during our time of Lent when
we enter into a time of repentance, meditation, prayer and self-sacrifice,
our Muslim brothers and sisters enter into Ramadan so that:
1)By fasting, learn self-control so that one can resist wrongful desires.
2)By fasting, one develops nearness and closeness with God so that
He becomes a reality in our lives.
3)By fasting, one voluntarily gives up what is rightfully theirs; how then
can we think of taking what is not ours but belongs to someone else.
4)And during Ramadan, charity and generosity are especially emphasized.
By fasting, it makes us sympathetic to the suffering of others.
Fasting in
So I
prayer and fasting. I know that I have gotten this post up very late in asking
this(my apologies to my Muslim brothers and sisters!), but let us take
the opportunity to join with them for the time we have left to do so, and
then join them in the month of Ramadan next year!
Blessings,
Liz Ciccone
