The Importance of Honesty Part 2

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call

on him in truth. Psalm 145:18

Life Question: Do you call on God to tell you the truth?

The world has change and evolved since I was born!

It used to be that you could say your peace without having

your head handed to you on a platter, nowadays, political

correctness has become the norm for all of us.....well.....almost

all of us, I don't follow that example.

Political Correctness to me is this: taking a hunk of manure,

rolling it sugar, putting it in fancy packaging, handing to someone

and calling it chocolate. This problem with this is when the person

takes off the wrapping and bites into it, it leaves a horrible taste in

their mouths.

The reason for that is because, when you take away the fancy

packaging and the sugar, you have what you started out with

which is crap(a.k.a manure)! Jesus taught us discernment for a

reason.....there is greater value in speaking with honest lips so people

will look to us as ones that can be trusted, counted on and respected

than those who look at honest as being offensive. That said, you don't

use honest as a tool for hurting, insulting or belittling them. You speak

truth to each other to build bridges, not burn them.

Jesus spoke the truth to all wherever he went. he brought no sugar

coating with Him, he spoke it because that's what his Father sent him

into this world to do, and he did it without apology. To learn discernment

of, and in truth, we need to get into God's Word and read and commit

to memory what it says in Isaiah 33:15-16 He who walks righteously and

speaks what is right, who rejects gain from extortion and keeps his hand

from accepting bribes, who stops his ears against plots of murder and shuts

his eyes against contemplating evil----this is the man who will dwell on the

heights, whose refuge will be the mountain fortress. His bread will be

supplied, and water will not fail him.

We need to write this verse on our hearts so that when we encounter anyone,

and they tell us something that we are unsure about, we need to  refer

to this verse and see how it matches up with what that person is telling us.

We need also to listen carefully when being asked to do something that

if it doesn't leave us with a clear conscience afterwards, is it really being

honest?

We also need to listen carefully to anyone who asks us to do something

that will compromise our integrity. Listen to how things are said, as well as

the language being use to say it.

As it says in Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good.

And what does the lord require of you? To act justly and to love

mercy and to walk humbly with you God.

Remember as always.....Draw near to God and he will draw near to

you as he has promised in his word!

Blessings,

Liz Ciccone
